Not sure about your question, but why not put the '37 box in instead?

I guess anything is "possible" but to put a '37 sector in a '36 case borders on the impossible! Use the '37 steering assembly as is just change the frame plate. PM me if you want more details.

If you are working on a 36 Ford vehicle, the easiest, and in my opinion, the best thing you can do is replace your '36 steering box with a '37 to '39 box. Depending on which steering shaft you use, the only changes you may need to make is moving the locking collar to a slightly different position on the shaft and replacing the '36 steering box mount that's attached to the frame with one weld and four rivets, to a '37 - '40 mount that are readily available in original form or as reproduction from Bob Drake.
We did this conversion several years ago on a '36 Phaeton using the original '36 parts, such as, column tube, column drop, banjo steering wheel, horn button/light switch rod, column tube clamp, and all the original hardware. Pretty simple and quick conversion to make once you get that newer mouning plate attached to the frame and start bolting things back together.

Mike built me a 37 steering box for my 36. got my bracket from Drake. Bracket swap was a PITA.
