Bob Drake 36 headlight conversion
Anybody tried this conversion? I really want to keep the original lens' in my 36.
I have a 12 volt conversion and I can run H4 halogens in the original type reflectors that are adapted for H4's. The problem is only the "high beam" filament is properly aligned in the reflector. The low beam filament produces very difuse light thru the lens. Effectively, the high beam filament produces about as much light as you'd expect from a low beam. I've tried just about every other option including original lens' resilvered, and "super bright" bulbs. Still, I'm not happy with the amount of light emitted. Just thought I'd ask before spending another $135 on a trial. Item Number: 48-13027-QK-12 Your Price: $135.00 KT https://www.bobdrake.com/ItemForm.as...1-fa3c46010bb1 |

Re: Bob Drake 36 headlight conversion
looks wrong in my opinion.
And, you get a terribly shitty light beam which is worse than the original design. - just a useless waste of money with the addition of ultra pi$$ poor night vision. keep what you have jmho |

I am doing this now on my 36. Are you running 6 or 12 volt. I run 6v. I am adding a 6 volt regulator in place of my cut out on the original generator. I am doing this so I can run the genorator at 15 amps all the time without overcharging the system. I also added a set of fog lights to help in the really dark nights. ( I live in a rural area) . I have sent the reflectors out to be nickel plated and then to uvira 541-474-5050. They do a glass coating used in the medical field. My understanding is that halogen is not better then the original bulbs. A 35w build is a 35 w bulbs. What halogen does is stop the carbon from sticking to the inside of the glass bulb over time therefore the builds stay bright for there life. I have not installed a relay on the headlights ( I did on the fog lights) when I get this all completed if I am not happy I will add the relay using the following set up that I got from another member on the ford barn https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attach...8&d=1447292642 __________________
