Those ARP studs are listed as 3.16 long. You may be able to use the Speedway stud kit for the earlier 39-48 heads which are 3.25 long and only $115. They are all the same length....

I've used sheets of wood paneling around 1/8" thick. Some use masonite but it's thicker. There are sheets of expanded pvc that sign makers use. Also the real door panel material is available but...

Can anything go bad other than the seal? Try switching the seal from your other cap or make one. Just a thought. Having gas coming out going around corners seems a little unusual to begin with. Maybe...

My hub puller is different, but the directions say to hit the center shaft with a hammer to pop the taper, if needed. Worth a try?
