I have a 20 roadster and these bows are 6 inches between the 2 pin sockets. If you mean the ones where you move the bow to raise or lower the top.

No reason to unhook the forked rod. Adjust ccw for more fuel and cw for less. Usually turn open ccw some to start. Trial and error will show best amount to turn.

I can not respond to mister Johnson's post but if you can not find the leaf you need.just cut the ends off a longer spring with a cut off wheel. I have done it many times.
