Re: Interior heat
I never tried shielding the muffler. The location I used was the exhaust pipe because it was easiest to get at. The front half of the pipe was already shielded by original factory shielding. My...

Re: Interior heat
What I have done on several of my flatheads is add in a heat shield over the exhaust pipe. It is simple to make and no need to drill any holes just use existing frame holes. Cost? under ten bucks....

Re: 1935-36 Dash Light Switch
I know there are minor differences between '35-'37 switches but they are basically the same size and action. As it stands now working light switches in good condition are impossible to find. And, if...

Re: Adding power brakes to the 53
Ford produced a power brake set up using a Midland booster. It was used on many product lines up until the 1960s. GM did the same.
I installed the Midland booster on my '35 (simple to do) in an...

Re: 36 steering gear adjustment?
Steve-
You can't just redrill the '36 box (top hole) and simply add the '37 box. If you go this route you won't be able to get your exhaust manifold back on. The only way to do this is to...

Re: 35-36 Engine pans
I may be wrong on this but my understanding is the fan is suppose to pull air through the radiator. Thereby cooling the radiator contents by advection. If the pans are not there the fan takes the...

Re: WHO Is the Oldest Early V8 Forum Member?
Add another for 81. Age does make things more difficult and time consuming but, I can cope with that. My big problem now is the propensity to loose my tools while I am working.

I can't speak for others with arm rest locations but with every stock '35-'36 I have seen has a rectangle hole cut into the door metal for the arm rest clip to hang on. Unless you cut a new location...

Amazon has a Runleader inductive tach for $13. The hook up seems easy especially for a flathead. Has anyone had any experience with one?
Thanks

Re: Drake's Gas Tank In A "35
Stan-
I can't speak for others but on my '35 I had to grind 1/8" off the right rear frame channel to get the tank into the car. It is a VERY tight fit.
