Years ago had a 34 cabro with an 8ba engine. Don't recall firewall or fan issues.

Yes you can install a 8ba in a 33-34 with out cutting the firewall and run a fan. I have one in my 34 three window.

Re: 33 ford

The 59 ab style engine in the 33-34 ford is a much easier swap,(a bolt in swap)

What that link shows is, don't try to install ANY V-8 flathead motor with a 33-34 4-cyl drive shaft and torque tube and expect a bolt-in installation without modifications to the firewall and middle cross-member with either a 33-34 pickup or pass car. By having the V-8 torque tube and selecting the right motor components it is pretty much a bolt-in unless you have the very early 33 front cross-member with the narrow motor mounts.
I know, clear as mud, right!

Hey Ron,

Long time no talk to.

You can install an 8BA block, as Quickchange said, but not using the 8BA distributor. You'll have to convert it to an earlier (like 59AB) camshaft, timing gears and distributor.
