1940 Ford Coupe barn find
City:
Hickory
State:
NC
Price:
28500
So you have heard about those 40 Fords stuck away in those barns and sheds in the hills of N.C. and you have always wanted one. Well here is your chance, this 40 Coupe has been owned by the same man since 1955, his wife bought it for him when he got out of service. I puchased this car 5 weeks ago and we have it road worthy again after a long rest in the shed. This car has one of the best bodys I have seen in a long time, it is as good as you will ever see and I KNOW BODYS very well. It has a very quiet running engine and has good power, like us Carolina boys say she hits the road good, we have rebuilt the distributer, carb, fuel pump, new wheel cylinders, brake shoes and brake hoses, new plugs, new trunk latch handle, the horns sound perfect, all the lights work, all new exhaust system, new trim rings and caps, new trunk mat, new hood chrome and latch, and more. This is sort of a survivor car, the car was repainted probably 20 plus years ago, it has the original bumpers and guards, all the chrome was original till I replaced the trunk handle and hood chrome and latch they were broke. All the stainless is perfect, a few of the windows are original and dated, the interior looks like was recoverd in the 50s or 60s, the original seat cover is under the cover on the seat but I was scared to remove it till someone does what they want with the interior. I will post a few pictures and within a week I will have 100 pictures of everything up close floorboards, trunk floor, paint and underhood. This is not a showcar, it is a great one to drive and leave just as it is. My number 828-308-8103 Andy

Re: 1940 Ford Coupe barn find
It appears to be an opera coupe but has a non folding front seat or is the cover hiding the split bench seat. Looks like a great 40 coupe.

Re: 1940 Ford Coupe barn find
Alan you can't keep them all, it's hard to find them in sheds like that anymore so I could not pass it up. I hope you are doing well, good to hear from you. Anybody that interested in the 40 my number is 828-308-8103, I have about 60 pictures of it that I can e-mail.

Man, I know exactly where that car sat, I used to go by it on my way from Cherryville to Morgantown. I couldn't have made an offer on if I had stopped!!!
