Default 34 Ford Restoration Tech: 32-34 Rubber Motor Mounts

I would like to talk about upper and lower rubber motor mounts used on the 1932 1933 and 1934 Ford Cars. The after market and also the reproduction motor mounts are all rubber. But that is not how the car came from the factory. Look at my first three photos. My photos show a NOS upper motor mount that was a very early replacement found in a dealers stock. As you can see it has a metal band all the around its circumferance. Also a metal top. The rubber is cast to the metal and it has become a integral part of the motor mount and is not removable. The underside of the mount has Ford in script and also the part number B-6038-C cast into the rubber.
Now for the lower mount known as the rebound. See my fourth and fifth photos. Replacement ones are more universal as the fit many years and have a small reduced part and large reduced part one on each end. They are designed to fit 1932 to 1936 and also 1937 and up depending on which end you use. But that is not how they came from the factory when the car was new. Again the rubber was cast with a metal upper and lower plate integral to it. This rebound lower mount fits only 1932 through 1936 and has a B-6039 part number. The 1937 and later has a 78-6039 part number. I hope this will help you to restore your car as correctly as possible. My fourth and fifth photos show a correct 1932 through 1936 lower motor mount with the Ford tag still attached.

I believe Bob Drake makes the mounts as ford used, with the steel reinforcements and unique sizes for the different years.
