Default Odd looking generator 35-36 ford?

Odd shaped generator. What's the story if anyone knows? I added 35 -36 ford to it because it had a short 35-36 fan attached to it.

I have heard them called a "power house". was used on big trucks, firetrucks, ambulances anything that needed a lot of amps for lights, etc I think that they were 60 amp instead of 30-- I am sure someone will add their knowledge

Check out this site. You'll see it there -- or a mixture of parts that made it...

Hi there, with respect these stepped housing generators were of slightly higher output than the standard 34-36 Ford generator which was 15- 18 amps maximum. Parts book listing states 150 watts for that stepped generator which is an absolute maximum of 25 amps, not 30 or 60 amps. They were used in police cars, taxis, ambulances, delivery vehicles, fire engines, etc. The pulley size could be varied depending on the speeds the vehicle was usually driven at. Remember this generator is still a 3 brush unit ( with just a cut out on top) and therefore no voltage regulation for various loads or conditions. The 3rd brush only sets the maximum amps output. If it is set at 25 amps in a normal passenger car then the battery will be overcharged, Overheated and damaged. Regards, Kevin.

because it only has 1 bolt for the field shoes it is most likely the regular amperage, the high amp ones look to of had 2 screws per field shoe, and was longer

I put one on my 36 Club Cabriolet and it had the judges at a national meet really baffled. Were going to gig me a few points for wrong generator until the Chief Judge, Paul Bradley stepped in and explained what it was. I HAD DOCUMENTATON TO BACK ME UP, BUT DIDN'T NEED IT.

Your generator does not appear to be 68-10000-HA, with 26 Amp output, that was used on the Lincoln Zephyr. I believe it may be 68-10000-A, 20. Amp output. Both of these generators have a similar overall appearance. The armatures, front end plate are different. Is your pulley marked 68-10130-A or -C??

That sucker looks like a pregnant walrus! LOL

I've never seen one . . . and would never run one (just because the way it looks) - but hey, the fact they used them (for good reason) . . . don't mind if anybody else runs one!
