37/38 Ford Cabriolets
I think I'm one of the very few... See, I have a passion for 1938 Fords. It started with the first and only hot rod I ever built (and still own) myself - a '38 deluxe coupe. I ... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Ford Barn, click here. |

Re: 37/38 Ford Cabriolets
I don't know who considers these "ugly"? I love them! They are very rare and in my opinion are better looking than the 36 Ford, even the 3 window, (chopped or unchopped) which is played out if you ask me! I'd much rather own a 37. The only 37 Cabrio i've ever seen in person was at the Pleasanton goodguys nats in august. It was all stock, dark blue, sitting all by it's lonesome down a side road. It was a beautiful car.

Re: 37/38 Ford Cabriolets
Hey Ryan,
I've heard people say that about the different yers also, mostly the 38's. I just don't get it either. The 37-38's are not my favotites, but I still like them a lot. My favorite, and on my list if I can ever shake the Model A bug, is the 1939 Deluxe Tudor. So, if you find yourself needing to dump your 39, just let me know. Dave Lopes |

Re: 37/38 Ford Cabriolets
Never thought the 37's were ugly ! I have come to appreciate the 38's and 39 std's due to the uniqueness of their grilles . My first old Ford was a 37 coupe at age 16 and have regretted selling it all my life . Have another now and will get it on the road if time and the Good Lord allows.

Re: 37/38 Ford Cabriolets
The one that always freaks me out is the 1938 Ford Standard in any body style because you just don't see them very much. The first time I saw one when I was a kid, I didn't know what it was and I thought I was an expert on Fords at the time. I liked the picture of the one with the furniture crammed in it. Ain't that what convertibles are for?

Ugly duckling? I have always been a big fan of '37 Fords of any body style....even sedans. The grille is sinister looking. I also he way the headlighs flow into the fender....dead sexy!

Re: 37/38 Ford Cabriolets
The 37s are very nice cars in the coupe version,i dont think that they are ugly. They get ugly only when they are fiber glass.BTW SUHRsc that 37 you photoshopped looks amazing.Someday that will make a stunning custom, very impressed.

Re: 37/38 Ford Cabriolets
Well i've owned a 38 Club Coupe for 24 years, It was my first Hot Rod, built as a rod in 1966, rebuilt in '75 I got it in '86 rebuilt it in '91, and is currently apart for repaint and a Buick V6.
many years ago a few guys and myself were driving from Adelaide to Bendigo for a swapmeet, one of the guys, a visitor from Canada owned a 37 Tudor, half way to Bendigo we were bullshitting about all sorts of crap and some one asked what was the difference between a Buzzard and a Vulture, one of the wiseguys quipped, about the same as the difference between a 37 and 38 Ford, both bloody ugly!. For what its worth I really like my 38, and I suppose it will end up with my kids |

Re: 37/38 Ford Cabriolets
Always liked 37 coupes since 1961 when I was 15 years old and about 4 of them close by and all black, couldn't gather the $500.00 for the best one for sale. Took me untill 2004 to get one I have now.

The 37's aren't my bag, although I was born that year. The 40 deluxe does the trick for me!
