I usually press them out. Made a rectangular steel bar that goes into the axle housing, through that bearing race ID, and sits on the very edge of what is exposed of the bearing race. Then I insert an old axle, threaded end first, in through the small end of the axle housing until the axle comes against the steel bar. Then pressing from the gear end of axle in my Arbor Press, I press the bearing race out of the axle housing.

What I do is using a mig welder run a HOT weld bead on the face of the race. This shrinks the race to where they almost fall out. If not a small diameter rod will easily punch them out.

Huh? He says 39 pickup. Inner axle bearing. Something doesn't add up here. What's the discussion about axle housings and long tools? The inner axle bearing is where???
Are we talking about front, or rear axle?

OK, got it... CARRIER bearings... now it makes sense

The differential side bearing. The mig welder does work great, I've used it before on tapered roller bearing races.

Wouldn't it be called the hub inter bearing race if it was on the front?

Will get them tomorrow, knocked in so many bearing races, I couldn't count, never used it for getting them out, was always able to use a long drift punch for that...

But, I tell you, tomorrow you'll be so suprised at what you made resembles what I have...lol!
