Default Recovering the Rear Seat Cushion 1929 Tudor

Eight days ago we had our spring tuneup clinic, and Elizabeth from Classtique Upholstery demonstrated recovering the rear seat cushion on a club member's 29 Tudor. I straightened the front main top edge wire on the seat spring. It was easy to bend straight with just my hands. A club member made the seat stand with threaded rods to compress the spring while the cover is installed.

Here's the rest of the cushion pictures. The last picture shows the cord which is on the rear edge and tucked under the backrest. The cord can be pulled tight to make the seam a neat straight line.

Tom
Thanks for sharing this, especially the idea for the seat stand with threaded rods to compress the spring while the cover is installed.

I've been reading and watching a few videos for furniture and also found a little post on the HAMB. All my vehicles could use some seat work, after watching the you tube videos I think I can tackle seat frame/spring repair.

Very helpful!
BTW, where can you get that wire mesh with the interlocked spiral wires? My rear seat originally had that, but it had crumbled into 10000 little pieces of rusty wire.

I asked Elizabeth from Classtique Upholstery the same question, and so far it isn't available.

I just did a Lebaron interior on my 31 Tudor. Lebaron told me not to worry about the mesh if it was gone. I left it out and it came out perfect. First time doing upholstery and looks like it came off the factory line. I wish I knew about the clamps, my hands still hurt from pulling.
