Default KEN ct

I ordered a matched pair of large logo Stromberg 81s from him. I received a mismatched pair. One with raised logo , the other one with recessed (kind of fishy) recessed logo. I asked about an exchange and was told he would not exchange, said who will care. I said I do. He hung up. Anyone else had problems with him?

This is very sad that fellow Ford Barners can not have transactions without disagreements that cannot be resolved as gentlemen. This is a hobby and we are here to help each other and not take advantage. I would suggest you contact a Ford Barn mediator here on the site to help resolve any difficulties.

I'm not trying to be a stickler, but when I pay $900.00 per matched pair, that's what I expect to receive.

How about posting pictures of the two carbs side by side with details of what doesn't match.

If they look different you have a point. If you need a magnifying glass to see the difference maybe its the type of difference you would see on an old assembly line.

Let us see what you are talking about.

My single experience with Ken was positive. And I'll no doubt do business with him again. I believe that Ken's probably much like many of us: if treated well, with respect and kindness, that's what we receive in return. I did.

They are both large # 81's in size and execution only 1 is embossed and 1 is set in,Dont know why both are true 81's not something cobbled up. You need a magnifying glass to see the diff..Plus its a hot rod and wouldn't be accepted in a Nat. v8 club show or a model"A" meet as its NOT stock anyway and hes selling it anyway. He admits hes being real pickey. If he didn't point it out to a buyer it would never be noticed. OMO. It was that way when I bought it and I didn't notice it till I cleaned it up for rebuilding who knows what Strom did back then and I don't have another to do a swap with him.ken ct. I try to work with people but this guy is a little too picky for my taste.

900 dollars is a lot of money to me, and if I asked for both carbs. with raised lettering than that's what I would expect.

Still hard to have a valid opinion without pictures, but I'll throw $.02 in anyway...

Same size, same brand, same model, same finish....should be considered the same carbs and they match. But that opinion is coming from someone accustomed to Ford assembling an engine at the factory with 'matching' heads and 1 is date coded 30 days before the other one and they both have slightly different foundry casting numbers on them.

Do they operate as they should?
Factory built assembly line carbs can cost $300 - $500, so having a custom rebuild to show quality standards isn't out of line to expect $450 each. Just saw one of Wayne Carini's shows and he was talking about a carb for a certain car costing $26,000. Its all relative to what you're working on.

If the guy wanted a matched pair, that's what he should get, not almost matched. Sounds almost like a 'bait and switch'.

No magnifying glass is needed! One is raised, the other is indented. As far as shows go none of these carbs from ken would pass the test. They are all painted!!!!

Anyone else had problems with him?
Um, yes. How about so called rebuilt fuel pumps that don't pump? That's three out of five on the final batch.
Only then did I find out he doesn't test them. Very professional (not).
Yeah, he'd take them back but this wasn't the first time this has happened. I kept them as I needed that particular style. I stripped the crap paint from them and rebuilt them myself. Worked fine after that.
Too many guys out there that know what they are doing, stand behind their work and actually are nice to deal with to waste your time and funds here.

beerayb...So sorry to hear that you've had to pay the price for such a slap in the face. "Professionals" and gentlemen don't hang-up on a customer. You have any disagreement with this guy...you're treated like the idiot! There are some sheep that still won't see through the bull. You want to do business with a REAL expert in Strombergs that re-does them in a REAL finish (NOT RATTLECAN)...click the link below. Uncle Max IS a true gentleman, most-professional in his dealings, and understands customer service. DD
