Frame engine numbers
Were the 1932 frames stamped with the the engine number as the Model A's were? If so, about where?

Re: Frame engine numbers
On passenger car frames, the engine number was supposed to be stamped in three places. All on the left, the first with the full engine number including the prefix stamped slightly forward of the foot on the firewall on the inside of the chassis frame flange. The second stamped with the prefix on the frame at about the B pillar and the third also without the prefix on the kickup above the rear axle. With the body attached to the chassis frame, the second and third engine numbers could only be seen by removing the body.
On commercial vehicles only the first number stamping adjacent to the foot of the firewall on the left side was to be made. The above were the instructions issued by Dearborn, but experience has shown that those were not always followed to the letter and variations do exist. |
