Anzac Day
Hope all the KIWIS and Aussies have a nice reflect-full day today
First time in many years I never took the 33 to the dawn service, Just instead went to the cenotaph late last night and left a nice pic of my Dad in his airforce uniform and his brother in Africa in WW2, Most of our family came home bar one who was killed in Libya Lawrie |

Re: Anzac Day
Great for you to remember. Fewer and fewer of us do.

Re: Anzac Day
It's a sin that they were used as cannon fodder at Gallipoli...

We in NZ stand side by side with Australians to remember our brave men who fought for our freedom. My grandfather fought at Passchendaele 1917 and was wounded and survived. Also a couple of great uncles who fought in the Spring Offensive 1918 at the Somme both were wounded by shrapnel and onion smelling mustard gas. Both survived and returned home safely to NZ in 1919 along with my grandfather. |

Re: Anzac Day
"Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served".
THANK YOU to all who served and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice that literally saved the world. Their valor was not in vain and should be an example to us all in these troubled times.. |

Re: Anzac Day
My grandfather was in the first lot of KIWIs to land on Galipoli , was there 35 days and evacuated out wounded, fought in Pashendale ,wounded again and evacuated to England where the nurse who looked after him became my grand mother, we used to play scrabble together when I was a teen ager, she died at 94,
