Default Noisy in bell housing

I am having a problem with my 1930 tudor sedan. I have put the motor back in and installed a new Mitchell transmission. I tested drove the car and runs fine and changes gears good. My problem is when you put it in neutral and let the clutch out you hear a noisy. You push the clutch in and the noisy stops. I think it may be the throw out bearing but not sure. It makes a noisy like something is spinning around and rubbing on something. I would appreciate all the help I can get as I have listen to a lot of advice from all of the Ford Barn experts.

Have you pulled the inspection plate and looked to see if you can spot anything. Do you have a new pilot bearing? New throw out? Chuck

You could have thrown one of the clutch center springs. Happened to me and it made a clicking noise for a while bouncing around in the bell housing until the clutch center completely detached from the clutch surface area and the event led to a nice ride home on a flatbed truck.

I think Chuck's idea is a good start. When you have the plate off you could keep the key off with the tranny out of gear and hit the starter and watch and listen. May spot something.

its not the release bearing because when you let the clutch out it stops spinning. probably spring out of disc. start tearing it down!

If the throw out bearing is bad it will make a noise if it is adjusted to touch the pressure plate fingers when the pedal is not depressed. When you depress the pedal it creates enough pressure to kill the noise sometimes. It will get worse and there is no cure but replacement. To check it, pull the inspection plate on the top of the bellhousing and try tospin the bearing with the pedalout. If it is contacting the fingers and is stiff or you can see it touching, it needs to be adjusted.

If you only hear the noise when the clutch pedal is out and in neutral, then I'd say it's one of the two bearings on the input shaft. The large one in the front of the case, or the small roller bearing inside the rear of the input shaft, and it doesn't take much of a defect on that little bearing to make quite a racket.
