Hay Guys a couple of questions for the Barn Wizards ; I'm new to the model A so I have many questions.I'm now starting to work on the stuck valves. I still have 1 stuck lifter, and 2 stuck valves . any idea on how to free the stuck valves. I'm using MMO and propane heat, no luck on these couple. If I remove the head, how do I free up the valve?? If I remove the head, may as well do a valve job, I have alot of LES ANDREWS books and Ford restorer but first hand info is always helpful. If I buy new valves and compont parts how do I measure the spring pressure?? I saw in a search to use a bathroom scale and a drill press , both of wich I have.How do I remove the guides , do I need special tools?? what kind of valve grinder is used??and of course how are they adjusted? There are no clubs that I know of here in N J , so any one taking the time to advise me , its greatly appreciated . thanks THE HOOCH

Mr HOOCH if ya come to lakeland on the 25 ill give you a engine,tools,and a beer and you can do a valve job for me..kinda on the job trainning..and i will have 2 other supervisers to show ya how not to pop out the valve guides.brass hammer required..el wappo..

Where are you located?? I found five clubs, two MAFCA and three MARK in NJ.

I had a couple of stuck valves many years ago from having let my Model A sit undisturbed far too long and a friend in my local Model A Club told me to squirt some automatic transmission fluid through the spark plug holes toward the stuck valves and let it sit for a couple of days; claimed it would free them right up. Sure enough a couple of days later I started the Model A and the garage filled up with so much smoke that I couldn't see squat! In a couple of minutes I looked through the "fog" and there were several sets of red emergency lights flashing in my driveway! A neighbor had seen all the smoke and called the fire department. The firemen got a good laugh out of it and brought in some of their fans and cleared the place out. Then hung around long enough after the smoke cleared so they could look the car over thoroughly.

Hi , Bob I'm located in central N J in a little town named Laurence Harbor. [ south amboy] I've contacted MAFCA for info. reguarding clubs in my area but they never responded. If you can share your finding with me I would appreciate it . thank you THE HOOCH

Mix ATF and acetone 50/50 and then apply, no heat. FWIW
