52 Trunk Ornament

Got the trunk lock/ornament off the 52 Merc to see if it is repairable. Seems like maybe a piece of broken off key inside the lock as none of the original keys here will go all the way in.
The plastic Mercury crest is faded white so I removed it (carefully). Found some gold paint to experiment with and it looks better but not great. Then I tried another option. I've had this spare ornament from a 54? or newer Merc around for years. The plastic piece is almost the same size as the 52. Close enough to try out anyway. I might just go with that option.
