Default Leaking Side Timing Cover Gasket

I going to replace this gasket as well as the valve cover gasket. While the valve cover gasket is off is there any preventative maint I should consider ?

I have no problems other than the leaking side timing cover gasket.

You could check your valve lash , look at your springs .

If you see any rust pits in any of the springs, including the oil pump drive, now is the time to replace them.

Sounds good. I subscribe to the "don't kick a sleeping dog" theory. Thanks I'll check the valve train out.

Also check the valve cover for cracks. I have had a cover that was a persistent "leaker" until I discovered that it had several cracks at two of the lower bolt holes. Gar Williams

Also clean out any sludge in the valve chamber and make sure you block the main feed holes so you don't get any debris in them. pipe cleaners or q- tips works
Then ck the feed holes to see they are not blocked.

Check to be sure that you have the copper washers under the two
bolts that hold on the drain tube.

If no washers they leak!
