1939 ford coupe floor install
I have a beautiful bodied 39 Deluxe coupe.
Except that the bottom is rotted off, and someone raised the floor up 4". So I need to remove the floor and install a new floor back to stock height. I have new floor panels and a pair of rockers. Question: is the rockers supposed to be on top of the floors? If so,how do I attach the floor to the rocker, or do I tack them in place then remove the floor / rocker and weld it off of the frame? |

Re: 1939 ford coupe floor install
Hi the floor joint is a sandwich of parts. I need to do this to my cpe also, I believe that the floor pan is first on the frame. Others will reply to this post. An Australian has a good post on this job. Newc

Re: 1939 ford coupe floor install
Others may have different/better methods; but I drill holes in the rocker flange and plug/rosette weld it to the floor pan underneath. The end result is similar in function to the original spot welds. Obviously; you can't be heavy handed and burn thru into the frame when welding.
