1929 Stop light switch

I bought a new connecting link from clevis pin to switch. What is the proper way to hook up,or to adjust? New switch installed and connected but doesn't pull far enough to activate. Bent link but want to do it right. Any info would help. Thanks

My switch is a repro, but it does have elongated mounting holes for adjustment.

What do the links you guys use look like? The switches sold by the vendors are LHD only. We can't attach them to the top of the gearbox like you because they get in the way of things like oil filler hole and hand brake mechanism. I make a plate to mount the switch and bolt that to the chassis or cross member. Trouble is, the link too often falls off the hook on the switch. I'm thinking a short length of light chain would be the way to go or put a decent end on the switch.

My switch is also a reproduction. I had to slide it back as far as I could to get it to work with pedal pressure. And I had to use foot pressure to activate the switch/brake light, just pushing the pedal by hand wouldn't do it...

There is constant spring pressure from the switch that keeps the connecting link in place...

you can close the hook ends like an S hook so it cant fall off.

hehe should see my AA with the battery, battery cable, dual high pedals, linkage, handbrake, and 29 light switch haha. mine is very hard to press by hand but its a full restored system and it should retract fully and with gusto.

I put a double bend in link and works fine now. Adjustment of switch is all the way back. Thanks everyone

1955: Curious about bracket bolted to your u joint cover that extends over the center frame cross member? Vibration dampener? Never seen one of those. mike

That's part of the "Flota Mota" engine mounts. There is a rubber block in there (or should be) to absorb vubration and stop the engine and gearbox unit jumping up and down violently in reverse. I know that because the piece of rubber supplied with mine was ridiculously too small and fell out very soon after fitting. I had to make my own - that was several years ago and no trouble since.
