who came up with the rear end differential principle, and when? and, who was responsible for the first planetary transmission?

That shows again what I tell the younguns when they start asking questions about my Model A. There has been nothing new done in cars (electronics excepted) since before WWI.
There have been some REALLY smart people in the past. Why do we think we have more smarts than anybody else ever did? Oh, yeh, coz we're dumb is why.
