You are of course 100% correct. Still, I have to wonder why that with the exception of this one, all others have been a pain in the butt to align. And yes, that's after trial fit, another trial fit, paint, etc... It's black magic I tell ya - black magic.

Got the box on today and have just a slight fitment issue with two of the bolts. That should be readily solved tomorrow. '
It is now officially brandy time here in Wisconsin.

Oh yeah... "driving it". That will most likely never happen. With the exception of the trailer(s) loading & unloading.

Floor mat was purchased from Dennis Carpenter. It took only a minimal amount of trimming to make fit very nicely.

Completed the right side - running board, rear fender and spare. Everything went together well.

The boards took a lot of metal work to get them looking as good as they do. Can't use filler when both sides need to be perfect.

More than once I felt like tossing them and finding better. I'm glad I stuck with it.

A lot of stuff was hand made in the 19th century but fewer folks carried that knowledge into the 20th century as fabrication got more automated. Metal shaping is truly an art form and I for one am happy folks are getting back to that. Primer & paint coatings don't last forever and polyester filler, even less. Lead/tin fillers were better but hazardous with heavy metals and mercury (back when it was still in use). To use lead/tin now is not as easy as it used to be and it was never really easy even back in the day. I think it's easier to pound, shrink, & file and use primer to fill the less than perfect spots.

Off topic, I don't know if you remember but when I picked up the 32 fenders from you, you had a little green roadster that you showed me. Still have that little dream boat?

Mike,Did you end up using welt between board and fender?I used on my 48. I'm pretty sure it is on the rear fender face the mounts to bed side. Sure will be a Dearborn winner when done! Ken

I started the truck in May, 2016.

I don't recall the green car so it apparently is gone Or maybe I simply misplaced it. Getting older does have some drawbacks.. CRS is one for sure.

I used anti-squeak material (no bead visible) as two helpful fellows with very authentic trucks had witnessed it between their board and fenders.

I doubt this one will see much more than a trailer so it should stay nice longer than most. Still, you are correct in that they don't stay forever. That's always been a tough pill for me to swallow.

Most likely it'll be in Dearborn. I am doing my best to get my convertible done in time as well. I was thinking of starting a similar thread about that project.
