Oil Pump Question
Oil pump has a little play in top bearing so I got new bushings and pulled the old ones last night. The original bushings appear to be split steel bushings with a spiral oil groove tooled in. The replacements are bronze oil lite type with no groove. Should I cut oil groove in new ones before installing?

Re: Oil Pump Question
Guten Abend!
It is very important that the bushings have the correct installation dimensions (0.05 mm). Drilled grooves ann't needet because there is, if rotating, the capilary effect. First the two sleeves have to be to pressed in. Then work on the inside. Most of the time, this internal dimension has to be increased somewhat; a reamer is ideal for this. The installation dimensions are correct if the shaft - adheres with thick oil - slowly slides vertically down from its own weight. When the bushings are sintered, they should soak up in thin oil for a few hours. The two oil pressure eaton wheels should touch the smooth (!) sliding plate with very little vertical movement. This is set with the seals. I wish you success!

Re: Oil Pump Question
I pulled the old bushings with a washernut ground flat on two sides so it would fit inside the bushings and used a stove bolt. I soaked the new bushings overnight in light oil. The new bushings were pushed in with a piece of all thread, nuts and washers. They appeared to be correct size. Pump shaft fit perfectly with no reaming required. Assembled with new gaskets and a little lubriplate on bearings and gears. Pump is stored awaiting completion of engine work. Moved on to generator.
