New Parts - It's gonna Run!
Working on getting a 28 Model A running that has been sitting for years.
Someone in the past broke the back of the ignition switch. I told the owner to order a new one - he ordered everything - switch, coil, complete new distributer, etc. Makes my life easier. Just replace it all, instead of looking for a short somewhere. My question is the new ignition switch has two terminals on it - so red wire would go on one side and the dist. wire on the other? I know, dumb question, but the switch looks a bit different than the original, but is a direct replacement for it, according to the vendor. Want to make sure I get it right. Hopefully the original distributer comes out easy..... |

I'm not a fan of "replace it all".
You're better off to check the system over and only replace the bad parts. Having a spare coil and condenser under the seat isn't a bad idea. |

Tom,
After a checkover last weekend, we found that someone has been messing around with all the igntion wiring. The switch had been taken apart and destroyed, the condenser had a screw missing, and the distributer looks like it had been taken apart on an effort to get the car to run at some point in the past. |

Replaced the switch, wire, coil and distributer with a rebuilt one. This thing runs like a champ. No knocks, engine runs great. My brother in law and I spent the afternoon tooling around the farm in it. The owner is pleased as punch. He has agreed to give me first grabs at it when he sells it. |
