Default Factory tires question.

Looking at this photo, what info can be given about the tires.
Can this tread pattern still be obtained. I have a set of Universal tires NOS that has this pattern and need a spare.
Regards,
Michael

I don't have one on front of me so I'm just going by memory but that looks very like a Lucas tread

The tire shown on the assembly line Roadster, is the FIRESTONE brand. I have a set of six - four on my '28 Phaeton, and two still in the paper wrappers.

The Firestone pattern on the 21" tires of the '28-'29 wheel, differed significantly from the later pattern for the 19" wheel of the '30-'31 tire. The closest to the 19" tire is the Coker tyre shown in Dick's post #7 It however, has too many groves on the tread.

No one currently makes a copy of the original 1928-'29 Ford 21" Firestone pattern.

I obtained my original FIRESTONE design 21" tires from a short run that were offered 50 years ago by Universal Tire Company. These were blackwall, per factory issue. At the same time I bought a set of six Double-Sided Whitewall tires, again from an extremely short run.

The photo appears to be where the hood is installed, as you can see them coming in on a raised conveyor, and the cars behind this one have no hoods.

I agree with 3.6....I think the whole picture has been photo shopped, one way or another.

Too many similar looking fellows further down the line...

Maybe several sequential photos mixed into one.....

It's still a neat picture...

Look at the center bumper medallion....is it Canadian?

The radiator cap looks low profile... that would make it early 28

Hood louvers lower at front than rear in relation to hinge make it early 28.

The center bumper clamp clearly looks like it has Ford with MADE IN USA below the Ford script. That would make it beginning of production through April 1928

Also the front bumper ends have a lot of curve that would make it early 28.
