Re: single bulb headlight question
Maybe it's just me but I always thought the single bulb headlight was intended to be used on deluxe cars where the "parking" lights were the cowl lights. The single socket held a single bulb that supplied both high and low beams.

Re: single bulb headlight question
I'm surprised the dealers don't have the 1928 bulb.
You might have to go to Hershey and look for old stock. |

Are you saying that the '28 had 3 filaments in the single headlight bulb, high/low/park? I have always had the '30-'31 vehicles so I missed it. Charlie Stephens |

Re: single bulb headlight question
The fluted headlamps only came with driving and parking filaments, no High/Low bulb.
My 1928 has the original 21/3 bulbs in the headlamps, and it's fine for driving at night. You can forget the parking filament and use a dual filament bulb, used as HI/LOW for driving. I think they can be purchased as 25/25, 35/35, or 35/50. |

Re: single bulb headlight question
I have an early 29 with fluted headlamp lense. If you are looking for the 6v fluted bulb, then you might get lucky at a swap meet, but you might look a long time.
I bought my bulbs from the vendors 50/32. Most have them 12v or 6v. They work great for me as I have no cowl lamps. |

Re: single bulb headlight question
If you use the original crinkle bulbs with your car running you have a 50-50 chance of them burning out. The crinkle bulb should be used for fine point only. I have a short supply of them but they are pricey. I also have a long supply of 21-21, 32-32 which will also work in your single bulb reflectors and sell them at reasonable prices.
Most vendors have modern replacements but mine are more era replacements so either way you will have lights. Best, Dan Bixby 816-213-8437 [email protected] Strictly A's |

Re: single bulb headlight question
They are made, I know I got a set. I think it was not a Model A vendor but something like Restoration supplies or something similar.
