I buy gallon-size StaLube GL-4 85-90w and straight 140w on-line from Amazon with free-shipping .... lowest cost I found. Local auto retailer's offered to order and don't seem to know much about the StaLube products.

Some of the modern GL-5 lubricants have a sulphuric/chlorinated content that is more stable than was the previous sulphuric/chlorinated aditives so that they don't get too acidic while in use but they are still acidic. Yellow metal bearings might survive this but the roller sprag in a B&W overdrive won't. They used to use more lead compounds back in the early years but they halted that practice many moons ago.
