Default Proper glue?

Hi guys! I picked up a 55 sedan recently. PO glued air vent knob on to cable (driver side) with silicone. Of course I pulled it off. The end of cable appears to be roughed up, or maybe threaded? So, after cleaning silicone off both pieces what type of adhesive should I use to attach bakelite knob to steel wire?

I have gorilla glue, epoxy, silicone, and prob a variation of liquid steel available...or should I use some sort of specific auto adhesive?

Thanks for your help.
