Default pitted transmission gear teeth with

I took apart a transmission that was given to me last year.
I noted that the cluster gear, the first/reverse gear and the second/high gear had teeth that had pitts on them.
I've heard for years not to use gears with pitted teeth, but what problems do they cause?
Thanks

Can you post a photo? It depends on how badly they are pitted.

Most of the trouble it will cause is noise and maybe a bit faster wear of the surface. If you are building a parade car then don't even worry about it.
