Default NOS Ford Shocks

Hi guys,
I spoke with a guy today that has what he said are a set of NOS Model A shocks and arms. Would these have any more value than a rebuilt set of original shocks? I dont know anything else about the shocks. He did say that the original Ford boxes were no longer with them because over the years they had been destroyed. Mainly just curious on thoughts because I don't think I have ever seen a NOS set of Ford shocks for sale before.
Thanks,
Scott

Did you talk to him via the internet or in person/phone? I would be wanting to see photos. there is lots of NOS stuff still out there, so why not some shocks. What he could be calling NOS might include new old stock replacements. They still might need to come apart to clean them out. The lube could turn to gel and be clogging up the inner works. Oh I would want to see how they look around the shafts. They could be painted originals that are junk.
You really never know till you see them.

Default NOS Ford Shocks

Scott,

If the shocks are stamped US PAT. NO. 3613842 and MADE IN CHICAGO ILL. than they were made by Pete Busiak and are Not NOS.

Last l looked there was a set of these on eBay advertised as NOS.

Look carefully.

Scott,

Pete Busiak shocks have a Ford Script on the cover, along with previously mentioned Pat # and Chicago.

Here are three links to previous threads on the subject, including photos.

Hope this helps to identify what the fellow is selling.

This sounds just like a Scam to me.

I suggest studying what original shocks look like, plus l would want to see the NOS examples in Person.

He lives 25 miles from me. I might go see them and help him advertise them. He is mid 70's. IF they are original N O S whats a value range. He is asking for these about what a repro set costs. Also, not everyone has a computer. Hard to believe but true.

Scott,

The shock arms made by Busiak in Chicago are made of Brass not steel like the original arms.

A number of years ago, after Mr. Busiak passed away, his son was at the Turlock Swap Meet and selling compete sets of his father's shocks and arms, what was left in the inventory. The son was not going to keep his father's business going.

if they are nos with ford script they will be 1928 up until December. and if they are real Model A nos shocks and arms my guess is one and half to two times what new reproduction cost. if he is that close to you, take some pictures and put them on here. you will find out right away what they are.
