and if jwl has stated that flathead cranks stored anyway for unknown time, show no evidence of "bending" in storage, when put on a crank grinder, then the question has been answered.

Pete, with all due respect, I believe the majority of us would rather not go there.

So after reading and digesting all the scientific info in this thread I conclude.

1. Molly definitely can bend cranks whether it is standing up or laying down.

2. That cranks don't bend laying down or standing up and if you believe they do, I have a
nice ocean front property in Arizona that I know you would like to buy.

This thread has been so informative, educational and interesting I think it deserves to go viral and kept alive for years.

X 2 on that interesting fact.

Well...few things, if Molly was so good, she'd be straightening cranks......

Plus seen them blowing glass at the county fair back in the early 70's...was neat to watch.

With this thread starting to wind down a bit, we could always have a contest to see who could add the best captions to these photos

There are some gi-hugic boat motors out there, like the one shown below, and even larger. Available with 6, or up to 14 cylinders. 38" bore X 96" stroke for this one. DD

The really big one JM posted is a diesel 2 stroke for something like a container ship.
