Default proper coil for 47ford std. engine

what is the best coil for a stock v8 in 47 ford? what if any resistor value? please give make . car is pos, ground . thanks

Your stock coil should look like this. Used with external resistor.
This requires a special mounting bracket as well.

If you just want a coil to run it that is not factory original type, a can coil of about 1.5 ohms with no external resistor is what is commonly used. Positive or negative ground doesn't matter on the type of coil as long as it is wired correctly in the vehicle, which is (+) terminal to the distributor/capacitor and (-) terminal to input power (ignition switch). As for a brand/part number, there have been several resent threads that list some numbers. Bosch or NAPA are good brands.
