There was a story about finding the body in a 1960's "Restorer" issue that was dedicated to the Model A taxi. I believe it was an on-going project that was later featured in another "Restorer" issue when it was completed.

I believe this is the only 4 door body that uses the tudor/coupe style of cowl, gas tank, pillars, etc.

In the video it states that the taxi was never in service so what does that mean? Seems like it would suggest that it was pieced together. That would matter to some.

That is a rare Model A & it looks mostly correct eg. the interior & meters. It does have twin rear lamps but that photo of an era Taxi has an extra tail light, but not on the fender. If any car in that era would have got an extra lamp put on the rear [ ie. not factory], it would have been a Taxi.
I am not convinced about the story of the body never put on a chassis ; maybe more likely to have been taken off a chassis early on. You would think a Taxi would have been converted into a Fordor like did happen with at least one or two Town Cars.
Also the blurb says it is a ''Fisher'' body which is wrong. Surely they were Briggs?
An original Taxi appeared in the Restorer years ago, which ended up being used by a Gent who smoked stinky cigars & whose wife insisted on sitting in the partitioned back.
I have never seen a Taxi [ none were imported to NZ] but would love to own one like this one.

Keep in mind that there were Ford made taxi's and aftermarket taxi's.

The ebay one is the Ford Taxi ; what is an aftermarket one? I suppose a sedan painted up yellow with taxi signage in the modern era?

this particular Taxi has been in the magazines a lot
im trying to remember the facts from 50 years ago
the body was made by Briggs
it never was sold
it was in a dealers garage for 40 years and he robbed a few parts off it
but otherwise its original
the paint color is original
its real
and what ever mileage it has now is all its ever had on the road
most of the parts on it are unique to this body style
the body was put on a frame and fenders were added
but this is an original taxi

I'd love a taxi, not many out there. A local club member has one with about 3500 original miles and incredibly original.

What's up with the fit of the passenger side front door, looks pretty tweaked at the top.
