Just a note , a friend owns a magneto business and uses xxx new distributor caps he buys in volume. He has a employee check each cap as they come in 100 at a time, not unusual to send 25 back as the contacs are loose crooked etc.....

Charlie, wouldn't the "gentle tap" cause another problem by breaking the brass loose from the phenolic? What is to prevent it from returning to the open position?
