Default Big Claude Hoppers- Size 12

I haven't driven my '40 much because my big feet and little pedals make it difficult. Those pedals are arranged for a woman with size 6 shoes. It is especially hard to hit the brake while avoiding hitting the gas. Dangerous. Has anybody changed or modified the pedals to get them further apart? Maybe just different offset pedal pads?

Back Order BOB Drake has some adjustable pedal pads that work on your 40.
Try a smaller shoe like P F Flyers
I have size 13s and dont have any trouble with my 40.

I wore big work shoes today and had a heck of a time. Thanks for the tips! Sometimes I wear a size 13 too. Seems like shoes are getting smaller, maybe my feet are just getting bigger. Back in 1940, people musta had much smaller feet.

Your feet do grow. I used to wear 13s now it's 14s. I fit terribly in old cars. And yes people are bigger now.

I feel your difficulty, go for the clutch and you hit the brake and the car behind yours isn’t quite ready for that. You need dainty Fluffy cobra drivers shoes !!!!
The I don’t know if Claude had big muddy feet or not.

I only wear 10 1/2 size shoes and I find some cars a little clumsy to drive.
If you have really big feet you need to spend about fifty bucks for a pair of ball room or tango shoes. Dance shoes have less sole sticking out around the edges of the shoes.
I keep my old shoes for driving my MG. It makes a difference.

I have spread the pedals for more clearance between them on model T Fords a few times.
They word is to bend them cold, but I have always got em red hot with the blue wrench before I bent them.

Be careful SOMETIMES when thinking about bending Ford brake and clutch pedals. MOST Ford pedals are forged steel with an 'oval' cross section, and will readily bend, especially when heated, just like heating and bending 'forged' Ford spindle arms. But there are a few Ford pedal arms (some '33, '34 and '39) that have an I-beam cross section, which are cast. They will break if you try to bend one of the I-beam shaped pedal arms. This '39 set below has a mixture of a 'forged' oval-section BRAKE arm and a 'cast' I-beam type CLUTCH arm. DD

Try a pair of race car drivers' shoes. They feel very light on the feet and the soles blend with the uppers and don't protrude out the sides like regular shoes. Summit Racing has a large selection. I wear a size 12 and they work for me........

With respect, Claude Hoppers is the name of a restaurant in San Antonio, Texas and the foot wear term is clodhoppers.

I have the same problem with my big feet in my deuce roadster and 3 window both hotrods with the 3 pedals in the stock positions. I wear some slim driving shoes when driving them.

Claude is one of those names you just never hear any more. Reminds me of a book title I remember the guys talking about in Jr. High School. The book was titled "Revenge of the Tiger", written by a guy named Claude "somethin'-or-other".....his last name escapes me. DD
