Default Fuel Pump Weep Hole

While rebuilding my stock AC 1940 fuel pump, I notice that there is no weep hole in the casting like later ones. A weep hole is to prevent gas from entering the crankcase if the diaphragm fails. Not sure what year they incorporated a weep hole. There are holes on the bottom. Will these act as weep holes if a diaphragm breaks? Anything to keep gas out of the crankcase.
