I didn’t see the description tag out to know what it is, but it is way cool.

Harry Miller Indy car...one of 2 or 3. frt whl dr After a short retirement the Granatelli's ran one. On the lower rh photo you can see the achilles heel......the steering gear attached too near the exh manifold...cooked the lube and seized the gear.

Awesome car and photos, thanks for the heads-up Digger.

I'm seeing one of the (5?) Miller prepared Fords run in the 1935 Indy 500.

If correct, then I think the steering was an issue that knocked cars out of the race.

You're seeing the block mounted with the output going to the headlights, and a front-wheel-drive setup. The heads are flipped side-to-side to get the outlets pointing forward. Also four-wheel independent suspension.

That's a historic racing car!

After a little research, I'm adding some links:

This one from the Indy museum was one seen at the EFV-8 Foundation Museum a couple of years ago. https://www.museumofamericanspeed.co...illerford.html

"Some reports indicate just eight of the ten cars were actually completed prior to the race, and of those perhaps only five were in condition to complete qualification runs."

There's one at The Henry Ford: https://www.thehenryford.org/artifact/251083/

There's some Preston Tucker tie-in: https://www.hemmings.com/stories/201...d-v-8-indy-car

"Miller created arguably the most beautiful and advanced racing car of the day, but victory wasn't in the cards, and Ford's subsequent public humiliation at Indy kept the automaker out of racing for decades and nearly bankrupted Miller (though Tucker emerged unscathed). "

Mecum was selling the one from the Hemmings story above in 2016 https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-24...cial-indy-car/

Here the only other car I took a photo of, a 1901(?) or so electric car, totally original with the charging station!

Yes - if your radiator is behind your clutch!

The heads face the correct way, but the block faces the wrong way.

The Hexagon Tool intake also reverses the carbs. Miller tried two different intakes. One was a 4X1 intake if memory serves me correctly. The second was the original D-based intakes were supposedly built under Edsel's directives with the Hexagon Tool shop.

The car seems to have the radiator in front. I think that's the expansion tank behind the engine. Who says the expansion tank and the radiator have to be one unit? Not the guys who designed the C2 Corvette.

More Miller pics sourced from the links above.

These are the car in the collection of The Henry Ford. Has obvious differences from the Pebble Beach car. Hmmm.

I'd like to see more about the car at the big show, but can't find a good list of the entries. There was a whole class for Miller this year at Pebble.

These are a different car. From a very reputable museum. Could it be closer to 'as raced?'

This one shows the spark-maker. Magneto, I'd think, but what do I know?

Not sure about everything I'm seeing here, but it looks complicated!

Cool build. What is the reason for the sphere gas tank. Is it mechanical or advantage? or esthetic. Very clean chassis.

Just spitballing here but could it be a fuel flow thing? Heavy G's in those corners comes to my mind.

It couldn't have been because it was easy to make!

Makes since, as every propane tank, acetylene tank has a round top. Much easier to just weld a flat top on a tube but you can't get one. Interesting concept. Probably something to do with effective air pressure. Modern tanks have baffles.

Guess it's like computers, there is a bottleneck. You could have the fastest computer but the cable you can connect to it can only go so fast. Probably a lame comparison. But ever advantage is a good thing. Beautiful car.
