Rare? 1932 Chassis

I have this 1932 ford chassis and it has low vin numbers. It also has no K arms and has a different type of pedals does anyone have info on this?
Story I was told is that it had never gone back to the dealer for the recall to put the K arms in.

They're quite rare in the un-upgraded form without the added arms to form a 'K' and revised pedal mounting. Yours is the sixth survivor that I'm aware of and the first of those that was originally produced with a four-cylinder engine. The one that I have is under an equally early phaeton body. The other four have lost their original bodies along the way, like yours.


The 'story' you were told is basically accurate and is elaborated in the Early Ford V8 Club's The 1932 Ford Book.

Do you have a photo of the front cross member?

Hey sunny. I have had 2 of these over the years. There not super rare but they definitely don't come around too often. Looks like a nice chassis

Even though that pedal setup looks completly different, the arms look the same.

Do you have a photo of the front cross member?

Yes I do but I will need to look for it unfortunately it was so rotted and welded on so many times we decided to replace it with a latter 32 front crossmember

Are the pedals themselves different or only the mounting bracket?

The pedals look as though they are the earliest version with the pointed elbows like those in the photo below, but they are otherwise the same as the next and most common versions without the pointed elbows. There is a third version of the brake pedal where it was shortened by a 1/2" between the shaft and the elbow later in the model year.


As with the those in the photos in this thread, most pointed-elbow pedals did not have their own grease fittings, unlike the later pedal versions, but rather were greased through a fitting on the end of a partially hollow pedal shaft with holes aligned with the pedals. There must have been a fair-sized inventory of the early pedals as some show up in later chassis with a grease fitting in the pedal.
