Default N.E. Ga. Mechanic sought

I accepted custody of a well loved and maintained mostly original 1939 Mercury fordor about 6 months ago. It is generally very reliable and I have put about 1,400 miles on it since acquiring.

I am looking for a quality mechanic in extreme N.E. Ga. or nearby N.C. or S.C..
I'm about 30 miles from both.

You might reach out to Regional Early Ford V8 Club, there is one in Chamblee, Ga. There is another Regional Club in Chapin, SC.

I do not know any Flathead guys up around Lake Rabun. There is a place off 115 I think east of Cleveland that has a lot of old trucks parked out front but not sure if it’s a garage or not. What do you need done?

Maybe JWL can help you. He is on this forum and is one of the best.
He is in Fitzgerald.

Thanks Pete, but I am around 300 miles south of the original poster. Of course if verbal assistance is sought I would try to help.

300 miles is right around the corner if it means getting it done well.

JWL, Are you still in Fitzgerald and do you work on olderFords.
I have a 1940 Delux coup with a 59 AB engine installed.
Would like to have a 3.54 ration ring and pinion installed. I drive this 40 often.
Dick in Royston, GA.

It has begun to "stumble" when light or heavy acceleration under load. it takes anywhere from 8 to 20 miles to start it. The ambient temps have been relatively mild (80-87F). I have done all that I can think of to do (minor things): cleaned up all elec connections, cables, ground straps, changed plugs (which seemed to resolve only to have it resurface a day and 20 miles later. The plugs I removed looked textbook perfect.) I suspect coil for no good reason.

If you need a condenser, try one from Tubman, they are space quality.
