Two years and counting!
Howdy everyone! I've had my precious Ford for two years on the 27th! Its been a great two years and lets have many more to come with the '49! How many years have you had your ride, and how did you acquire your baby? I acquired mine through carsoup.com. an elderly fellow down in St.Paul was selling the beauty, and he said it was his everyday driver for the past 10-15 years. Driving it through monumental amounts of road salt during the winter each year really takes a toll on a car. But anyway, SHARE YOUR STORY!

Re: Two years and counting!
I acquired my 40 Tudor 46years ago.UHHHG.
Ther was never enough time to work on it as the family was GROWING, and working two jobs. So now i'm retired and OLD dont have enough energy to do a lot of work on it, but i wont give-up i'm picking on it a little at a time. Like PAUL HOWARD told me once keep doing a little every day. That's what i'm doing now. |

Re: Two years and counting!
I’m one of those gray-haired guys who simply can’t seem to get flathead-powered vehicles out of his system. First was a ’40 sedan with a ’48 Merc flathead (fun ride for 2+years.) Then a sweet restored ’46 coupe that I acquired restored (2+years.) Later came a '53 F-100 (3+years), and today a carefully-restored ’51 F-1. The current project (F-1) will finally be on the road in another 2-3 weeks.

Re: Two years and counting!
Drug my '48 F1 out of a field 29 years ago where it was sitting down in the mud. The guy was using the cab to store grain sacks and the bed to feed cattle on. Got it for $75. Rusted out mostly but complete. I've owned the engine in it since it was bought new by my dad in 1950. Complete resurrection. Ground up.

Re: Two years and counting!
I've had my 50 F-1 since 1988 (25 yrs) and I'm just starting to re-assemble it. Job, kids growing up, house, etc.... take all the extra $$ needed to do the truck. They come first! Now, my kids are grown and out on thier own, I'm retired ( disabled ) so I can devote some time to it. My truck was in my best friends family as his Dad drove it to work in the early 70's. I rode in it as a kid. I hope to finish it someday.

Re: Two years and counting!
i bought a 1950 ford 2dr. custom v-8 o.d. at iola 17 years ago, the owner brought it from iowa, he told me that he had 7 cars and one had to go ,im glad he picked this one , rebuildt it from front to back, drive it 1500 miles a year to car shows, iola ect. runs like a watch, great car and fun to drive, kept it old school, lake pipes, spots, sunvisor, beauty rings and spider caps, nothing better than the sound of a flatty with duals and glass packs

Re: Two years and counting!
I have always been a Chevy guy (sorry...). When I bought my Avatar '51 2 door it had been wrecked hard on the right front. I figured I would buy it, fix the wreck, and turn a quick buck..........23 years and nearly 40,000 miles ago .

Re: Two years and counting!
Two years and counting got me thinking. A story alot of guys on here could probably tell you is how they had a car and when they got a little older (20s) they sold the car to start a family or go to school ect. Don't do it,if you have to work a little harder or longer do that first and only sell if you have no other choice because you WILL regret it. You are young enough that if you hold on to that car you will have something special down the road.

Re: Two years and counting!
Got mine about 23 years ago. Not too long after that I was taking my teenage daughter somewhere and she looks up at me and asks "Dad, do you feel like a real stud driving this car?" Matter of fact, I did back then, and still do. Still a work in progress, they're NEVER finished.
