Default Got a bit bored today!

Got up nice and early today, and finally dressed up the air cleaner! Here are some before and after pics! Just thought i'd share!

i remember those pain in the butt oil bath air filters, but they look neat,they drive the young jap car kids nuts, they cant figure out what they are, you explain the principal to them and all they say is your not serious, yours is primo tho, i like it

That's lookin' good Joshua. Here's a little known side note, a nicely painted oil bath air cleaner will provide an additional 10 horsepower to your Flathead... LOL

I still feel a properly maintained oil bath is at the top of the list as far as effective is concerned.. Of course the operative here is "Properly Maintained"

I still remember the first time I removed the "oil Bath" air cleaner from my first car, a '48 Ford TuDor. I was 16 and I didn't know that the air cleaner contained oil... When I lifted it from the carburetor, I tilted it and anointed the Flathead, my arm, etc. with oil... LOL

We were just talking about oil baths here. A guy said that when Mt St Helens blew ash all over, the only heavy equip that would work without the filters clogging up and choking them out were the ones with oil bath type filters.
So I'm thinking between that and the resistance to EMP, that after the Apocalypse we'll all be driving our old Fords around and eating Twinkies!

While there's something to be said about keeping that original patina (read: flaked paint) it looks pretty damn nice in satin black!

Not long ago..I was trying to start my Merc after sitting a while and boom a back fire and the oil bath air cleaner blew off and the oil went everywhere..i mean everywhere lol
Guess it wasent properly maintained and not screwed on properly lol...ing

When you push start a caterpillar with the trans. in reverse, you know the meaning of oil bath.
