Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
62pan -- Thanks buddy. I was more or less sure that was correct but wanted to check it out. I had a mild stroke last year and it takes me a little longer to get stuff straight in this old head. Guys on this site have been great. With the "Barn site" & the "HAMB" I am in good hands.

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
Has any one on this site installed an open drive shaft gear set from a 49 - 52 F1 light duty Ford truck trans in a B case?
Van Pelts book says it is the same as all the 39 - 48 installation and I would just like to see how it worked out for someone that has done it. |

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
Am I correct that a cling's V8 adapter will not mate a 49-52 light duty Ford truck trans to a Model A block? Is there any adapter out there that will?
I know that the open gear set will fit a B trans case with a 38-39 or 49-52 shift unit. |

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
quickchange -- thanks for the offer, I think your right on shipping.
califfarmer -- I will not have a car at Pismo this year, medical issues have held me back. Will be there watching. Hope there is a good turnout and support for the first TROG Left Coast race. Charlie Stephens -- Great set of pictures, will be fun to see some from the Left Coast this year. Hope for a good turnout of cars and bikes. |

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
As 62pan said in #24 of this thread in running a 32 B trans case bolted to a Model A motor you can run both a lightened A or B flywheel, he also said you can run a V8 flywheel.
What year and size V8 flywheel will fit? Will it use the same Ford 9" clutch/pressure plate that would go on a lightened A & B flywheel? Why would you go to the exspence of lightening an A or B flywheel if you can use a V8 unit? Is it the weight? |

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
There was an article in Fast about using an alum. V8 flywheel. Might be able to get a copy if you contact them. Not sure which issue. The V8 flywheel is not a bolt in item. you need a V8 starter with the bendix spring reversed. The flywheel housing needs a bushing installed to support the end of the starter shaft or it will bend.

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
62pan --- Thanks for the information. I think for this project with a 75-85 HP motor that a good lightened & balanced A or B flywheel will be fine and the easiest way to go.

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
I have a couple of feelers out on a 32B 4 cylinder trans case. One in Northern CA (long road trip)
Does anyone in the Southern CA area have a case for sale? Also looking for a complete stock 32B4 cylinder Trans. |

Re: A & B Running Gear For "TROG"
Just trying to get all my ducks in a row on this Trans to motor deal ( 32B trans case with 32B upper flywheel case to a Model A motor).
Am I correct on these points? The model B top flywheel section will bolt direct to a Model A Block. A model B pan will not work in this swap. Need to use a Model A oil pan and build a lower flywheel cover. Anyone got a few pictures of a lower flywheel cover that they made??? |
