Finally got the diff/axle back together , spprings reset and back in the frame. I didnt reset the helper springs.

Thought i would share a pic,

Rims have been blasted, primed and painted silver. They will be a different colour to this when im done.

Whats the thoughts, do people use filler for the imperfections in the rims? I will get more pics but was
thinking i would to have a smooth finish on the face of the rim where needed.

serpentine belt drive? I would guess an alternator and an air condi compressor

Hey guys,

Your correct the engine had an alternator on it when i got it, i am still considering the air conditioner fitment add it ģets pretty warm here.

How much the wheels are pitted would govern how much you fill the pits in the wheels. I would suggest that you keep in mind your are dealing with a "truck", which is a tool, so don't over restore it .
I would make a guess that you used the term "Mate" in an earlier posting and you describe the truck as being a 1-1/2 "tonne", that being the "English" spelling for "ton", therefore I would guess you are located down under?
I have a '36 Ford 1.5 ton flat bed truck.

Correct Bill located in Australia, and yes i agree regarding the rims. I have been having a good look at them and they are really not that bad. I painted one using a 2 pack aerosol can to see if i liked the colour. The renaming rims are similar condition to this one, although a couple of the rings hassells a few pits in them, so not sure about them as yet.

Boxhead, have a look at your front brake shoes. You need one long and one short on each side. It looks like you have two short one side and two long on the other. If they're the same as the passenger car, the long one goes to the front.

First rate job, though, it has to be said.

Nice work!!!.....are you using an 8BA fan?....where/how does the alternator mount?....does the serpentine belt clear the bottom of the distributor?......that’s gonna be a pretty truck!!...as has been said,...keep the picture coming.....Mark

Nice truck!! I’m restomoding a 1946 Mercury 1 Ton now.
I’m on the hunt for front and rear shackles. I noticed you just reworked your rear suspension. Was it tough finding replacement parts, bushings etc

The rear shackles are impossible to find mate, tried for ages. I fitted sleves and then fitted bronze bushings from my local engineering shop.i did post a the shackles in another thread.

The engine was in my mates hotrod, so i havnt decided really what i want to do with this as yet. The alternator has another bracket that mounts at the top of the engine ( can post a pic if you want me to). The belt was running in the hotrod so i assume it clears, there was some misalignment that i will fix if i keep the belt.

I want to run an alternator that has the apperance of a standard generator , but also an AC compressor. I need to put some more though into this.
