Saw that a couple days ago. If you watch his other vids, he is an incredibly talented for someone of his age. Can't wait for him to start the body.

He is a sharp young lad, but has a bit to learn about safety. Pressure washing without eye protection is not a good thing. I worked in heavy industry and saw people damage their eyes doing jobs less risky than what he was doing.

Will the electrolysis process dissolve the rear and front crankshaft seal retainers?

It would be interesting to check results of a shake & bake before, then again after that operation.

You have to remember that electrolysis works on "line of sight" only, so the chances of that block being cleaned on the inside is not very good. Quite frankly, he probably would have gotten the same results by just pressure washing it. I have experimented with this method of rust removal and found it lacking (and messy).

Good to see the "young-uns" at it, though.

There have been similar videos on the internet for several years. They always have mixed results, as tubman posted it is a line of sight type of process.

I wonder if wire with plastic beads placed at strategic points bent into the water jackets for be effective for internal cleaning?

If you watch his other vids he already pressured washed it a while ago. Seems to have worked good enough on the external surfaces though.

Actually he seems to have a decent setup there, plenty of space and access to hoists, a bucket loader and all sorts of things not necessarily available to all.

I'd kill for that space.

It's a good video and I sure admire the kid's gumption. I still feel that an overnight soak in a chelating rust remover is the best method since all internal and external surfaces have the rust safely removed.

cleanest block I ever had spent the night in a chelating agent with steam heat. used to work in a paper mill and the plant chemist gave me some of the agent that went into the boilers--sure was clean and the flathead never did overheat. wish I still had access to some of those "toys"
