Oil pan worth saving?
Hello everyone, I'm looking for some input on an extra oil pan I have laying around. It was previously on my motor and I wound up buying a replacement in better shape. As you can see from the photos there are some dents on the front of it with some brazing on it, I'm not sure if from a rust pinhole or bullet hole, or what it may have come from. There is also a pinhole in the bottom of the oil pan toward the rear that had been JB welded. There is some small pits in the dipper tray but nothing rusted all the way through.
My question: I'm sure someone could pound out, cut/weld/repair the pan to save it if they really wanted to but is it even worth it? Honestly I don't have the time or desire to do this right now and would rather have the space in my garage so what do you recommend? Is it worth anything? Would it be wrong to just drop it off at the scrapper? I never want to throw away something that is 1.) Original and 2.) not being reproduced but if its common enough (which I think it is) maybe that's alright in this instance? If someone wanted it to repair it I'd gladly sell it if they paid for shipping which is probably a lot on something this size and weight. Outside front: Inside: Bottom Rear: (I chipped off the JB weld) Dipper tray (this one is the worst, and pits don't go all the way through)

Thanks John, That was my feeling. I got another good one before I had my engine redone so I'm good to go.

There is something to be said for the person who is skilled enough to repair and save an original Model A part that probably never will be reproduced. With Ted developing and hoping to successfully produce a brand new engine block for the Model A , perhaps there will eventually be a lot of people looking for such a part. |

Re: Oil pan worth saving?
If it was taking up space i would sell it. It probably works fine and someone might need it.
