The local Ford dealer told me $5,000 a pop to replace that battery. In all models of cars. So, he said that it is pro-rated when you go to trade you will be surprised if you aren't aware of this. Which makes sense. Who wants to buy a 5 year old Hybrid car that has at the best, maybe 6 months worth of serviceable battery before you get hooked for $5K for a new one? He told me 'Actually, if you do the cost analysis, it ain't worth it. The extra $$ up front at purchase time, etc. Buy a regular gasoline powered car. You are money ahead in the long run.'

I don't think it will go to $6, even $5, and may not stay at $4. There hasn't been a cut in oil production of a drop except the Saudis. They dropped production because of a glut of oil worldwide. In 2008 when gas hit $4/gal., oil was at $140/bbl. Now oil is at 110/bbl. Even Goldman Sachs, and they ain't your buddies, is saying oil is overpriced by 20%.

A broken watch is right twice a day and Obama is right on this one. Prices are being manipulated by traders and oil companies. There might be an unspoken collusion, but you can bet there are at least plenty of winks and nods going on behind our backs between the oil producers. Obama will do some saber rattling, but both sides are too deep in the oil companies/big banks pockets to crawl out and do anything about it. In our current political situation, stand by for some more of these types of fiscal shenanigans. Americans will watch Dancing with the Stars while Wall Street rifles our pockets.

I'm getting out my old cap with "BOHICA" on it. Stands for "Bend over. Here it comes again." Now I've got to figure out some way to get my Harley down a 1/2 mile of sandy, unpaved road. And I may leave my stock 85'er in the 39. Thank God it's got overdrive.

$7.00 a gallon was the price predicted by an oil analyst for the summer on Today show.

Let's drill for our own oil. We have plenty, underground, here in the good ole USA.
We could get away from our dependency of Mid-East oil.
Every time a Middle-East country has a turmoil, which is a way of life for them, our oil speculators make millions and the US population pays billions.
Drill, baby, drill !

I learn a long time ago to make do with what you got. To get ahead one must live under his means.Save a little for a rainey day.People in business will hurt the most. The tourist trade will hurt the most which wasn'r doing that great anyway.

I have to agree with oldford2. At 69 I'm not putting off any trips because of $5 or $6 gas, Just don't buy as much coffee at $16 a gallon, don't smoke as much, don't drink as much and so on. Ok, so I went a little overboard but if we really want to drive your cars we can find places to save most of the extra money for gas.

you are working on the understanding that the oil companies will sell you oil/gas at a cheaper price because it is found domestically ?.,..when they could sell it abroad for the going rate on the world market...I wish we had sentimental oil producers here....we had/have the the North Sea oil fields but paid more than almost everyone for the stuff.

Last year we were hurting at 87p a litre...today it is nudging £1.40 a litre...but people still keep filling up...next year who know`s....we might look back and think how lucky we were to get fuel at this price.

I think the price of fuel will increase our awareness about purchasing foreign oil....the thing that gets me is I live 23 minutes drive from a refinery in calif and the gas is shipped out of state!

HENRY HOPPER ......................
"Sentimental Oil Producers" ! Boy, that's a joke !
Normally, the oil companies create a shortage, this time of year, to change over .... yada...yada.... But, at nearly $4.00 a gallon, there is no shortage !
Let's utilize our own oil reserves and let the Mid-East wonder how they can afford our wheat.
DRILL BABY, DRILL !
