Default Miles on your flathead.

I'm curious about the miles that are put on out flatheads each year - mainly I like to know who puts the most miles on their flathead powered cars/trucks.

I enjoy driving all of our Flatheads as much as possible, especially on road trips and tours that we (the Cigar City Flatheads) set up. I also try to use our other non-Flathead antique vehicles. My daily drivers include our '39 Ford CS, '51 F-1 and '63 Studebaker Avanti. I can't really put an actual number on millage but, I do measure Smiles per Miles...

The odometer on my 39 Deluxe shows just over 72,000 total miles. I think I might have put as many as ten miles on it this year.

I think the award will go to Paul Carrigan aka Rumbleseat who passed away not that long ago. He routinely put on 10,000 miles a year in all kinds of weather in his 34 roadster. Sure miss his input.

Way to go Bill! Sounds like you and Sheba are becoming real road warriors .
My road mileage for 2014 is down considerably from 2013. Did ~14k in 2013 and maybe 3-4k so far in 2014. Now, considering some tentative plans for next year, 2015 could turn out to be a record breaker for Olivia (my avatar) and me. I am planning to drive to the EFV-8 Club ENM in Charlotte, NC, the CNM (if that happens), and to Bonneville for Speed Week. Also, there is some preliminary talk about another long distance cross country type tour in 2015 by some EFV-8 Club members, but we will have to wait and see how that plays out.

A timeless picture of Paul Garrigan and another very-well-known flathead guy we all know........these two never needed to boast about their flathead-powered mileages. DD

My recollection is that Paul put on over 100K during the time he posted on this forum, then had the engine out for a 'freshening up', and continued to pile on miles until his health wouldn't allow. I'm guessing he had in the vicinity of 150-175 during a 12 (or more) year period. This on a 'well-built' 59A-type (described here several times). Ron, and others could likely elaborate.

Sounds like Bill and I last month... 2000 in 7 days, with our 47 & 49. I wonder where all these guys were when we were touring to the moonshine fest?
