I have acquired a large quantity of the older type, but have not been able to find a mandrel to be able to use them.

Google “3M Roloc Mandrel”. Came up with a lot of hits.

Back when I was still working, I bought them from industrial hardware store or aircraft supply houses.

Bob C, I think that is it. Apparently there are two or three sizes for diff size discs. Also, i don't see any way to back up the discs. Bob C's photo might be for that, but it doesn't look like it to me. RogerKB1936, what do you think of the ones in post #9. Is that the correct rear pad?

Bob and Russ..

That's what I use. I have 2 sizes, for the different size pads. I use 2" and 3",...the English
grinding flapper wheels work on them..

Hi. Guys , yes the picture of the backing pads is right, I have been using them for years, they will thread right onto the threaded mandrel that is threaded into my Dotco angle grinder . I cut down one of the backing pads to 3/4" for those tight spots. Just cut the disc to about 1""The discs are available in several grits, and are good quality.Make sure you use safety glasses. Cheers

The older style of disc had a 3tab attach to the adapter. The discs were known to come loose and zoom away ,very dangerous. If you still have the old style I would not use them .
