I know this shop does good work. The shop I use cools the sleeve with dry ice before installing for a tight leak free fit. However, if hr didn't go into the plumbing, not a problem. I never relieve the blocks even on the racing engines, I did originally until I started using a flow bench. The only thing it does id lower compression, and it just adds to the cost. i wonder how bad the cylinders were?? I Usually bore to 3 5/16, cleans up most bores.

He didn’t say, but how much do they bore it to so it will accept the sleeve?
And funny they completely finished one side before boring the other. Saves on set up time, but what if the walls are thin and it breaks through?
I guess sonic testing will prevent that though.

That was interesting. I wouldn't have bothered with the "power slot" either, but the setup on that machine seemed very good to me. I suppose if sleeving it's a dead cert so one side would be fully finished before starting the other. I don't know enough about it but hopefully will be playing with my old school boring machine in the future.

Doesn´t matter if you break through to water...
If you get a poor casting with a pinhole or a crack into water the sleeve with some sealer will fix it.
What you can´t do is bore it so big that you loose to much material affecting strenght between deck and mains.

I would've recommended putting some "green" #675 Loctite on that sleeve before installing it, if there happened to any very slight pin holes the Loctite would become the sealer!

Believe it or not, it also helps keep the sleeve from moving around under running conditions!

P.S. He did do a nice job on that sleeve, we do the same but on a Haas CNC. We also "press" the sleeves into place rather than using a hammer!
